Graduation!

Brett has finally graduated! After changing his major several times and transferring schools he is now an engineer with a diploma. He graduated his final semester with an awesome report card that boosted his GPA. Go Brett!

He is enjoying a nice vacation from school, and especially enjoying that he doesn't have to expect another semester of summer school to get ahead. Right now he is preparing for an interview with EaglePicher and he has also already been accepted to work on some summer research projects with the university's chemical engineering department.

During the week he comes to work with me every day and spends all his time researching companies for jobs, studying for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), practicing ASL, reading real books for pleasure, and practicing for interviews. At home he's been cleaning out all his school stuff. I'm glad we have a recycling center here. We've been "saving" lots of trees.

This is a very odd feeling for both of us to feel completely free from school. We don't have to look forward to another upcoming school year or feel the dread of plunging into another summer crash course to get ahead or retake classes. This feeling certainly won't last forever since we both plan to continue our educations with Brett shooting for a Master's and me finishing my Bachelor's.

It's a real transition time for us both. Anything can change right now, but we're both ready for something new to come along and take us on a new adventure.
