Beware!
We're planning on taking a day trip to Columbia, MO this weekend so that we can go see the new Star Trek movie at a good theater and go shopping at a mall! So we took our old car to a mechanic to have it checked out to make sure it would be okay to drive it for the distance we'll need to go. Turns out that the coolant we just bought and filled up with has to be drained and flushed out because this particular brand has been causing major, costly damage. Over a period of time we've discovered dark gunk has been building up in the coolant tank. "Dex-cool has been linked to corroded and clogged radiators and radiator caps, eroded water pumps, rotten radiator hoses, leaky cooling system gaskets, chronic overheating and engine damage." (http://www.bigclassaction.com/lawsuit/dexcool_damage.php) We didn't know this and we were using it because that was the kind our car manual instructed us to use. Don't use Prestone Dex-Cool antifreeze!
