I must be cookie-challenged or something because I seriously cannot get the perfect chocolate chip cookies that Mom makes. I have tried so many tips and different "Best Chocolate Chip Cookie" recipes. Tonight this is what came out of my oven. They were burned around the edges and undercooked in the middle. I did just what the recipe said: don't over-mix, use room-temperature eggs, add dry ingredients to wet, refrigerate the dough. When I mixed everything together the dough was really runny. The one cookie I tried tasted like sweetened baking soda (and it only called for 1/2 a teaspoon). Brett said "I love your cooking, honey, just don't bake those things again."
I realize that baking outcomes vary with different ovens and that other things like humidity and elevation can make or break a good recipe. But I think that I just haven't found a tried and true recipe yet. So..... PLEASE send me your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. And all the better if it includes oatmeal and nuts.
