Brett let me use his watercolor pencils to paint this picture. It's from an original photograph sent to me by my grandfather while he was on the beach.
I love painting; especially with watercolors. I was inspired to paint this because 1) I love this beach, and 2) the image I received via text message inspired me to paint it because the picture quality on my out-of-date cell phone made it look like a watercolor piece anyway.
I watched a brief tutorial video on YouTube to learn how to use the watercolor pencils. It didn't seem as complicated as I thought it would be. The key was to layer on the color and avoid detail. That way, you just had to scribble color onto the paper and then move and mix it around with a wet paint brush. Basically, the palette became my painting.
