I didn't start cooking until I left home two years ago to go away to college where I had to fend for myself in the kitchen. All I knew was that if I followed a recipe I would get food as a result. Fortunately, I discovered that my mom had secretly implanted a hidden cooking gene within me.
Just over a month after I left home I met Brett. It was right before my 21st birthday and I knew how I wanted to celebrate it, but I really wanted to share it with someone. I remember calling up my mom and asking her if it would be weird to invite this new guy I just met over to have dinner with me for my birthday. I really wanted salmon and asparagus, neither of which I had made before, and I wasn't sure if this guy would like fish or asparagus at all. I think she just told me to ask him if he liked fish.
He came to dinner of course. Turns out he didn't mind fish too much but he had never had asparagus before. He liked the asparagus so much that when his birthday rolled around later that year he asked me if I would make it again!
Brett taught me how he makes donuts while we were engaged. The only picture I have of me cooking in the kitchen. |
I love to cook for Brett. When it comes to my food the only thing he ever complains about is that there isn't enough. Just this last week he said, "You always say you don't know what to make for dinner and then every night I sit down to an awesome meal." He tells me he likes to say the blessing on the food before we eat because it's his way of thanking me for spending the time to make such great food to feed his belly.
Glad to hear Brett isn't starving. I'm sure your an awesome cook. Hope you have a good birthday. :) - Nicole
